WELCOME TO THE BYRE THEATRE

The original Byre Theatre was founded in 1933, renovated from a semi-derelict cow byre (leased from the Council for £10 per annum) and marked the beginning of the St Andrews Play Club, which still performs at the theatre to this day.
The current building opened by Sean Connery in 2001. It contains a 216-seat main auditorium and a second 80-seat performance space as well as a conference room and bar/restaurant.
The Byre has been part of the University since 2014, hosting a varied and vibrant programme of University, student, amateur and professional productions of theatre, dance, musicals, music, opera and family focussed performances.
